The controversial singer Azeez Fashola, a.k.a Naira Marley, was detained by the Lagos State Police Command in relation to the controversial death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, a former record label signee on Tuesday night.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Command’s public relations officer, said:
“Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities.”
Naira Marley had earlier noted in a tweet on Tuesday night that he would be meeting with the police and would be arriving in Lagos to help with the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s death.
He stated:
“I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole.
“I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”
MohBad died on September 12th, at the age of 27.
The police had already summoned Naira Marley and notorious music promoter Balongun Eletu, nicknamed Sam Larry (who is now in police detention), for interrogation in connection with Mohbad’s death.
Also, the police last week acknowledged that the doctors had concluded the Mohbad autopsy as they awaited the results.
The nurse who allegedly injected the deceased musician previous to his death on Tuesday, September 12, had also been detained.
Last Friday, a coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death began in the Lagos State Magistrate’s Court in Ikorodu.
