After being nominated in four categories for the 21st edition of the yearly Latin Grammy awards, Nigerian singer, songwriter, and businessman Mr Eazi created international news and history by being the first Nigerian artist to win a Latin Grammy. He was nominated and awarded for his work on J Balvin’s and Bad Bunny’s albums.
The song “Arcoris” from J Balvin’s album “Colores,” won the category for Album of the Year. Furthermore, “Oasis” from the J Balvin x Bad Bunny album, won the Best Urban album category. Both these albums had Mr Eazi as a featured artist. Mr Eazi’s contributions to “Oasis” and “Colores” received widespread praise. Especially for his portrayal of the genre-defying sound and also the avant-garde treatment of Latin music.
The featured songs, “COMO UN BEBÉ” and “Acoiris,” which have amassed over 198 and 54 million listens on Spotify alone, respectively, have contributed to giving the projects a new angle.
Subsequently, he has now been awarded the following certificates:
- Composer on “Colores” Album of the Year 2020
- Featured artiste on “Colores” by J Balvin Best Urban Album (Winner) 2020
- Featured artiste on “Oasis” by J Balvin/ Bad Bunny for Album of the Year 2020.
- Featured artiste on ‘Oasis’ by JBalvin/ Bad Bunny for Best Urban Album 2020
With this victory, Mr Eazi has also proven his talent and dedication to eradicating barriers by developing a truly worldwide sound. Significantly, his success in the Latin music industry is a direct result. Furthermore, he also intends to publish a new body of work later this year.
