Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, has urged President Bola Tinubu to address the nation and ease the tension as the country approaches the second day of the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest.

From his residence in Onitsha, Anambra State, Obi responded to the demonstration and the demonstrators’ demands by saying the president needed to address the country and answer the justifiable requests of the populace.

“I am here in Onitsha; I can’t be here and be in Abuja,” the former governor of Anambra State said, citing the footage that showed him there on the first day.

Obi acknowledged that the demonstrators’ demands were reasonable but maintained that they ought to be carried out legally.

He said:

“My appeal is for the President to come out and address the nation, he is the one the people elected, holding their mandate, and he should not be using aides or appointees to reach the people at such critical times.”

Obi also expressed his sympathies to the families of those who died during the demonstration, as well as those who were hurt and lost property.
