Boston Celtics defeated Dallas Mavericks on Monday night to claim the NBA Finals.
It was Boston Celtics’ record 18th NBA title in the 2024 season. Boston Celtics Head Coach Joe Mazzulla has now attributed the win to the help he got from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
Boston Celtics won their first title since 2008 having displayed a masterful performance throughout the season.
Guardiola was seen in conversation with Mazzulla before Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
Mazzulla said the victory would not have been possible except for Guardiola who helped him devise a means to outwit his opponents’ defense.
The Celtics coach said (via X account @CentreGoals):
“Dallas has one of the smartest defences. We had to be creative. Pep helped me in transitions and how to move the guys.”
