The National Examinations Council (NECO) has warned job seekers across Nigeria to be vigilant against a fraudulent online recruitment campaign falsely claiming the council is planning to hire new staff.
In a statement delivered in Abuja on Wednesday, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, clarified that no such recruitment exercise is underway and urged the public to disregard any related publications.
Sani emphasised that the misleading online announcement is entirely fabricated and designed by scammers seeking to exploit unsuspecting applicants.
He reaffirmed that NECO, under the leadership of its Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, remains committed to transparency and will strictly adhere to official procedures and extant laws whenever the Federal Government authorises any future recruitment.
The council advised Nigerians to rely only on its verified communication channels for accurate information and to avoid sharing personal details or making payments in response to unauthorised job offers.
This alert comes amid a rise in recruitment scams targeting vulnerable citizens, and NECO has pledged to take strong action against those responsible for circulating false information.
The public is encouraged to report any suspicious job advertisements to the appropriate authorities and to always verify announcements through NECO’s official website or recognised government platforms.
