Niger State Government has officially received a N100 million relief fund from the House of Representatives to support victims of the recent petrol tanker explosion at Diko Junction in Gurara Local Government Area.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, presented 10 cheques of N10 million each to Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, during a formal handover ceremony at the state’s liaison office in Abuja.
Expressing gratitude for the donation, Governor Bago described it as a significant gesture of compassion and commitment towards the affected victims and their families.
He assured that the funds would be disbursed through the Niger State Disaster Management Fund to ensure proper support for those impacted by the explosion.
Speaker Abbas emphasized that the donation fulfils a pledge made during a condolence visit to the state following the devastating explosion, which claimed multiple lives, left many injured, and caused extensive property damage.
He acknowledged that while the financial assistance may not fully address the victims’ needs, it symbolizes the House of Representatives’ unwavering solidarity with those in distress.
Reaffirming the House’s commitment to continued collaboration with the state government, Abbas assured that additional support would be provided to the affected community in times of hardship.
