Nollywood is in mourning once more as news emerged of the tragic passing of renowned Martial Arts actor Natty Bruce. The devastating announcement was shared by lecturer and journalist, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, through a solemn Facebook post.
Although the exact cause of Natty Bruce’s death remains unknown, Husseini’s post highlighted the actor’s significant contributions and vision for enhancing Martial Arts within Nollywood films. Natty Bruce was keen on integrating Martial Arts into Nigerian cinema and had embarked on a promising endeavor by attempting to produce a full-length Martial Arts movie before his untimely demise.
On social media, heartfelt messages of condolence and tributes poured in for the late actor, illustrating the impact he had on fans and colleagues in the Nigerian film industry.
Nigerians have been left questioning the string of recent losses within Nollywood. The passing of Don Brymo Uchegbu, a veteran actor, who collapsed in his hotel room after returning from a movie location, had deeply affected the industry a few months earlier. He was confirmed to have suffered a partial stroke and high sugar levels, succumbing despite being rushed to the hospital.
Additionally, another revered actor, Obinna Nwafor, famously known as Saint Obi, passed away on Sunday, May 7th, in Jos. His death has brought to light the personal struggles he had been facing, including issues in his marriage, as he leaves behind three children from his estranged spouse, Linda Amobi.
