The Nigerian Ports Consultative Council (NPCC) has inaugurated a new Board of Trustees to improve operations and collaboration within the maritime industry.
The announcement was made during the council’s quarterly meeting in Lagos, where NPCC Chairman Bolaji Sunmola highlighted the importance of the board in promoting public-private partnerships.
He said the council plays a crucial role in offering advisory and arbitration services among port users and operators.
Sunmola also revealed plans for a partnership with the London Ports Consultative Council to bring reforms and fresh ideas to Nigeria’s maritime sector.
The meeting was themed “Digital Information and Data Management for Sustainable Marine and Blue Economy,” which he described as relevant to current challenges.
He stressed that inefficiencies, delays, and regulatory overlaps must be addressed to restore investor confidence and improve productivity.
Sunmola expressed optimism that with support from stakeholders and the new board, the council would secure better funding to achieve its goals.
The new NPCC board includes Hassan Bello, Chinwe Ezenwa, Muhammed Bambado, Abayomi Adigun, Bello Gwandu, and Mfon Usoro.
