Nuhu Ribadu claims success in eliminating key terrorists on Abuja-Kaduna route

Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has announced the elimination of three prominent terrorist leaders who previously controlled sections of the crucial Abuja-Kaduna expressway.

Speaking at an event organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna State, Ribadu identified the neutralised figures as Kachalla Boka, Dogo Isah, and Kachalla Shekau, whose operations had made the highway notoriously dangerous for travellers.

Ribadu emphasised that these successful operations have significantly improved security along the route, to the extent that government officials are now encouraged to travel by road rather than air.

“You can now drive safely from Abuja to Kaduna because we eliminated those threats,” the NSA stated. “Just last night, we made the journey by road to demonstrate this progress. We’ve instructed all ministers to stop flying this route.”

The security chief’s remarks highlight what authorities portray as tangible gains in the fight against terrorism in northern Nigeria. The Abuja-Kaduna corridor, a vital transportation link between the capital and Nigeria’s northwest, had become notorious for kidnappings and violent attacks before recent security operations.

While Nuhu Ribadu did not provide specific details about when or how the terrorist leaders were neutralised, his comments suggest a strategic shift in counterterrorism tactics.

The NSA’s public declaration appears aimed at boosting public confidence in road travel and demonstrating the government’s commitment to securing critical infrastructure. However, security analysts caution that while eliminating high-profile targets is significant, sustained efforts will be needed to maintain improved safety conditions on Nigeria’s highways.
