The Independent National Electoral Commission has revealed that no less than 19 political parties have informed the commission of the conduct of their governorship primaries in the state.
The commission had previously scheduled the party primaries for April, with the primary governorship election for November 16, 2024.
Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, announced at a meeting with political party representatives at the commission’s office in Akure on Thursday.
According to him, the following political parties have notified the commission: the All Progressives Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party, the Accord Party, the Action Alliance, the African Action Congress, the African Democratic Party, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Others include the Allied Peoples Movement, Action Peoples Party, Boot Party, Labour Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, National Rescue Movement, Peoples Redemption Party, Social Democratic Party, Youth Party, Young Progressives Party, and Zenith Labour Party.
