Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has urged the wealthy residents of the state to follow in his sister’s footsteps and help the underprivileged and poor members of society.
Speaking on Friday at the Yeye Dupe Adeleke Sanni Foundation empowerment workshop at the country residence in Ede, he emphasised the necessity for powerful and wealthy people to assist the government in assisting the populace in order to improve society for everyone.
The Governor in his statement, said, that generosity is a familial trait that fosters rapid societal growth. Therefore, he encourages people to follow Adeleke’s example of providing for the less fortunate.
“I am happy to associate with my Sister and mother as she keeps the family tradition growing. This is a very commendable action. I know this is a completely private venture. This is a challenge to all well-to-do Osun residents. We must support the poor, the weak and the challenged.
“Society grows best when we love our neighbours as ourselves. This is the tradition in my family and I am happy my sister is pulling this true”, according to the Governor.
The foundation’s founder, Mrs. Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, an elder sister of the governor, she asked the recipients to utilise the empowerment materials they had been given for the betterment of their immediate families rather than selling them.
She emphasised that the empowerment was intended to benefit women in all thirty local government areas as well as the state’s area office, and she stated that her objective was to enable them to become self-sufficient.
She said:
“50 mini-buses, 100 deep freezers, 50 grinding and sewing machines and 10 hair dryers were distributed to selected women across the state. This will not be the end as other people would benefit from another round of the scheme.”
