The Osun Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, an agency of the Osun State Government, has announced plans to build three agro-logistics facilities to store and process farm commodities from around the state.
Mr. Rasaq Okediya, the O’RAAMP Project Coordinator, revealed the proposal while appearing on the radio show ‘Imole Ayo’ on Saturday in Osogbo.
Okediya stated that Governor Ademola Adeleke was devoted to the development of rural communities in the state, which led to his decision to release counterpart money, allowing the agency to clear its obligations and continue operations.
Okediya explained O’RAAMP’s future operations, saying that the agency’s exceptional performance under Rural Access Mobility Project-2 qualified Osun and 18 other states to participate in the project’s next phase.
“O’RAAMP will, among other things, upgrade some kilometres of rural roads, while spot improvement would be done on rural roads, with routine maintenance and regular rehabilitations.
“The newly added component – agricultural marketing – would focus on the construction of agro logistics centres in the three senatorial districts using the multi-dimensional indicators as laid down by donor partners,” he stated.
Okediya thanked the state government for creating an enabling environment for the agency to function and urged host communities where the agro logistics centres would be built to collaborate with O’RAAMP workers when work on the projects began.
