The Adhoc Committee of the Osun State House of Assembly on the Iwo-Osogbo Road Rehabilitation has expressed displeasure with the amount of work done thus far.
Given the road’s economic importance, the committee urged the construction business in charge to expedite work on it.
As part of its monitoring responsibility, the Committee, chaired by Deputy Speaker Akinyode Oyewusi, visited the road project site on Monday.
During the visit, Oyewusi stated that the Assembly’s interest in the project was necessitated by public concerns about the state of the road from the Ibadan border in Iwo to Dele Yes Sir in Osogbo.
In his own words,
“I must say that we are not impressed at all with the level of the work done and the slow speed. This road is very critical to the economic development of our State. Once the State Capital is not accessible via good roads, investors won’t come in.
“We have come to do a physical inspection of this project. As you all know, oversight is part of our constitutional duty.
“We have invited the contractor to the plenary for questioning, and we have read through various reports from his company and the Ministry of Works, including the contract documents. We are here today to see things as they are.”
Recall, that the Assembly formed an Ad hoc Committee on the Road two weeks ago after interrogating the CEO of Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Ltd in plenary.
