Unidentified gunmen suspected of being bandits kidnapped two nurses and an indeterminate number of patients from the Primary Healthcare Centre in Kuyallo, the eastern section of Kaduna State’s Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area.
The bandits reportedly attacked the adjacent Government Day Secondary School about 9:00 a.m. on Monday. When they found the school unoccupied, they invaded the next health center.
According to Musa Alhassan, the head of a local vigilante organization in the region, the bandits, who were attempting to kidnap students, instead seized two female nurses and numerous patients hostage, causing fear in the neighborhood.
He said:
“The bandits came to the school around 9:00 am, asking about the students, but when they found out the school was empty, they went to the healthcare centre and started kidnapping people.
“The exact number of patients kidnapped is still unknown.”
According to an eyewitness, the robbers entered the hospital with pistols and machetes and pulled victims out.
Bandits invaded a village in Kaduna State on Friday of last week.
This is the latest in a string of attacks by bandits in the state.
However, the state administration has not yet issued an official comment regarding the event.
