Nigerian socialite Papaya Ex has issued a public apology for wearing a dress with Juma Jux’s face prominently displayed at Priscilla Ojo’s wedding, sparking widespread criticism.
On Thursday, Papaya Ex attended Priscilla Ojo’s wedding in an outfit that featured Juma Jux’s image placed on her chest. The controversial fashion choice quickly ignited backlash on social media, especially on Twitter, where many users condemned the act as inappropriate.
Even actress Toyin Abraham voiced her displeasure. In a now-viral clip, Toyin was seen trying to remove the picture from Papaya’s dress before Iyabo Ojo intervened to prevent damage to the outfit.
Taking to Instagram, Papaya Ex shared a video of the confrontation and apologized for her actions. She clarified that her intentions were not malicious and expressed her genuine love and admiration for the couple.
The wedding, which had been highly anticipated, saw several moments of joy and drama. Earlier in the week, Toyin Abraham had playfully hinted at her excitement for Priscilla’s big day, promising to move energetically around the venue and engage guests humorously.
This wasn’t Toyin’s first time sharing her enthusiasm for Priscilla’s wedding. Back in February, she had joked about her plans to wear slippers, walk briskly through the venue, and whisper constantly in Iyabo’s ear to create an impression of closeness.
