Nollywood actress Paschaline Alex has opened up about her final chat with the late upcoming actress Jumoke Aderounmu before her untimely demise in April.

Aderounmu, who was a former cast member of the popular series Jenifa, reportedly reached out to Alex for help in contacting Funke Akindele, but the efforts were in vain.

In an interview with Seun Oloketuyi, Alex recounted how Jumoke called her, expressing feelings of neglect. Despite Jumoke’s claims, Paschaline insisted that she frequently reached out to Jumoke, who often did not respond due to her habit of ghosting people.

Paschaline shared that Jumoke had complained about not looking well and asked for a video, which Jumoke never sent before her passing. This was their last conversation before Alex learned of Jumoke’s death.

The last time we chatted, she called me complaining that I wasn’t checking up on her. Jumoke is this type of person that can blank everyone, you wouldn’t hear from her, etc. She told me she didn’t look nice and good, and I asked her to send me a video of herself, but she didn’t. That was the last chat we had, and then I learned of her death,” Alex recounted.

Paschaline also addressed criticisms from Jumoke’s brother, Adeola, who accused her and Funke Akindele of neglect. She questioned how she could have relayed any information to Funke when Jumoke did not provide any details about her health or situation.

I was so angry that her brother mentioned my name and said she told me to tell something to Funke Akindele. The truth is, any information anyone gives me about her, I give to her. But this time, there was no information,” Paschaline added.

Adeola had publicly accused Funke Akindele of hypocrisy, claiming that his sister had repeatedly tried to contact her for help but received no response. In response, Funke broke down in tears during an Instagram Live session, explaining her recent personal struggles and asserting that she was unaware of Jumoke’s illness.

Funke’s colleagues rallied in her defense, sharing stories of her generosity and support. Bimbo Akinsanya recounted how Funke financially supported the late Folake Oshadare, a Nollywood make-up artist and cancer patient, with monthly payments for her medication. Juliana Olayode recalled Funke emptying her account to save her mother’s life, who was battling fibroid. Tobi Makinde and Alesh Sanni also shared instances of Funke’s kindness and financial support for those in need.
