Peter Okoye, one-half of the defunct Psquare music group, has found himself trending on social media after his noticeable absence at the dedication of his twin brother Paul Okoye’s daughter.
The event, which took place at Elevation Church in Lagos, was attended by close family members, but Peter and his wife were missing, leading to mixed reactions from fans and followers.
In October, Paul Okoye and his wife Ifeoma joyfully welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in the United States. The couple shared their happiness through a touching video showing Paul’s older children from his previous marriage to Anita Okoye meeting their new sibling. Paul expressed how these past months had been the sweetest of his life.
However, it was on Sunday, during his daughter’s child dedication at Elevation Church, that Paul posted photos from the special event. While Paul, his wife, and their elder brother Jude Okoye and his wife were present, Peter Okoye was conspicuously absent, sparking questions about the state of their relationship. This absence led to fans expressing various opinions on social media.
Reactions varied from users like Henry Aniegboka, who advised, “Do not go where you aren’t invited,” to Amarah Chukwu, who urged followers to stay out of family matters. Meanwhile, some fans lamented the ongoing drama, with one user, Veetoria_12, saying, “They should wrap it up abeg, we left their drama in 2024.”
The Okoye twins have faced public tension over the years, particularly due to their involvement with their elder brother, Jude Okoye, and conflicts over financial matters. In a public interview, Paul accused Peter of causing their family issues, claiming that Peter had him and Jude arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in December 2023, though Paul was cleared of all charges.
Peter has been vocal about his grievances, asserting that instead of collaborating with him to reclaim their musical dominance, Paul chose to side with Jude, marginalizing and disrespecting him. These issues were further exacerbated when Paul accused Peter and their former producer of stealing his music. In response, Peter shared a phone conversation with the producer, defending his stance and urging Paul to let him focus on his music.
