The trio of Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshall Hassan Abubakar, and Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, as well as Minister of State for Defence Bello Muhammed Matawalle and Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Dr Betta Edu, have arrived in Jos, Plateau State, and are expected to visit affected areas of Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi communities
The security chiefs and ministers were seen disembarking from a presidential plane in a video uploaded on X (previously known as Twitter) by Channels TV.
Their visit to the location of the assault comes a day after the Senate called them in response to Senator Diket Plang’s (APC, Plateau Central) resolution of urgent significance about the deaths.
The Red Chamber also invited the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi, and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, in addition to the military commanders.
The gunmen had assaulted the villages of Ndun, Ngyong, Murfet, Makundary, Tamiso, Chiang, Tahore, Gawarba, Dares, Meyenga, Darwat, and Butura Kampani in the Plateau State’s Barkin Ladi, Mangu, and Bokkos, burning houses and killing inhabitants.
