The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested Ihsanatu Shaaibu and an unidentified accomplice for allegedly abusing Shaaibu’s five-year-old stepdaughter, Fa’iza Bala.
The arrests were made after a disturbing video circulated on social media, showing the extent of the child’s injuries. The footage caused widespread public outrage, prompting immediate action by the police.
In a statement posted on his verified social media accounts on Thursday night, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrests.
“In relation to the viral video where a woman identified as Ihsanatu Shaaibu physically abused and caused grievous injuries to her stepdaughter, Fa’iza Bala, a 5-year-old, the suspects have been arrested today, Thursday, 9th January 2025,” Adejobi stated.
The police assured the public that the suspects would be prosecuted once investigations are complete. Adejobi emphasized that the police would keep the public informed about the legal proceedings. The case has sparked outrage across the country, with many calling for justice for the young victim.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, and the suspects are expected to face legal consequences for their actions.
