Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has addressed the rumours surrounding his collaboration with Dammy Krane, a known rival of superstar Davido.
In a recent Instagram post, Portable clarified that the song was not intended to insult Davido and revealed that he did not receive payment for the feature from Dammy Krane, accusing him of exploitation.
Me and anybody no sing to insult Davido. That’s how I was with Davido and people called him saying I sang with Dammy Krane to insult him. Na him feature me oo and he didn’t even give me feature money. He rip me. So abeg o, no allow my helper run from me because of you,” Portable pleaded, emphasizing his loyalty to Davido and asking fans not to disrupt their relationship.
This clarification comes shortly after Davido treated Portable to a luxurious dinner in Atlanta, where he gifted him a pair of luxury sneakers. The gesture was seen as a sign of reconciliation and support from Davido.
Late last year, Portable teamed up with Dammy Krane on a diss track targeting Davido. This move surprised many, especially since Portable had previously sought a collaboration with Davido. The video of Portable and Dammy Krane in the studio recording the diss track caused a stir among fans.
However, Portable has since distanced himself from the diss track, urging Dammy Krane to resolve any issues he has with Davido directly. Portable criticized Dammy Krane for continuously dissing Davido, who he acknowledged as his helper.
The relationship between Portable and Davido has been tumultuous. In 2022, tensions arose when Portable supported Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a political race, while Davido backed his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, the eventual winner. This political disagreement led to Davido unfollowing Portable on Instagram, which prompted Portable to criticize Davido publicly. However, the two reconciled after Portable apologized, and Davido re-followed him on Instagram.
