Portable Rejects Half-Payment Offer and Declines Performance at Tinubu’s Inauguration Concert

Renowned Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, professionally known as Portable, made a bold statement by refusing to take the stage at the highly anticipated Tinubu inauguration concert held in Abuja on May 25. What is the reason behind his decision? The organizers offered him a mere N5 million instead of the agreed-upon N10 million for his performance.

In a video that quickly circulated online, he expressed his disappointment, saying,

I am the one who sang ‘Akoi Tinubu.’ Aren’t you the same people who voted for Obi? Now that Tinubu is present, you choose to let those useless people perform instead of me, the one who promoted Tinubu. They called my manager, offering N10 million, but they wanted to pay me only N5 million. I couldn’t accept that. I tore the contract, deleted their number. Are you trying to mock Jesus? That’s why I didn’t perform in Abuja.”

Despite Portable’s absence, the concert featured performances by other notable artists, such as Naira Marley. In addition, Tinubu himself and his vice, Kashim Shettima, also attended the event.
