The Presidency has issued a stern rebuke to Senator Ali Ndume over what it described as “reckless and unfounded” comments made during a recent television interview.

The lawmaker, who represents Borno South in the Senate, had criticised the administration’s handling of national issues, prompting a sharp response from the government.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Presidency expressed disappointment over Ndume’s remarks, stating that such comments were not only misleading but also detrimental to national unity.

The statement emphasised that elected officials should engage in constructive criticism rather than making inflammatory statements that could incite public unrest.

The Presidency further clarified that the administration remains committed to addressing the country’s challenges, including security and economic reforms.

It urged political leaders to refrain from divisive rhetoric and instead support efforts aimed at fostering stability and progress.

Senator Ndume, a prominent figure in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), had accused the government of failing to adequately tackle insecurity and economic hardship.

However, the Presidency dismissed these claims, insisting that significant progress has been made in various sectors.

The statement also highlighted ongoing initiatives designed to improve the welfare of Nigerians, urging patience and cooperation from all stakeholders.

Political analysts have noted that the exchange reflects growing tensions within the ruling party, as differing opinions on governance continue to emerge.

Meanwhile, the public has been called upon to disregard sensational statements and focus on verified information from official sources. The Presidency reassured citizens of its dedication to transparency and accountability in all its policies and programs.
