Buhari and Emefiele

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday afternoon met with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He met Godwin Emefiele at the State House located in Abuja. The Central bank governor arrived at the villa around 1:00 pm, shortly after the President returned from the Police Force Headquarters, where he unveiled a wide range assortment of operational assets acquired to strategically improve on operational capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly in crowd control and anti-riot operations.

In total, the CBN Chief has encountered the President at least six times. This consists of both private meetings and in the company of other government officials. The Punch reports that Emefiele attended last Friday’s Council of State meeting. This is where he assured the Council that the new naira notes scarcity would not hinder the free flow of logistics during the electoral exercise.

Emefiele did not speak with journalists after the meeting. Although, it is believed that both leaders discussed the cash crunch and the attendant crisis.
