Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential contender for the 2023 election, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to disclose the actual cost of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project.
However, Atiku added that the Tinubu administration could not continue to duck the topic of the cost implications of a project sponsored by taxpayers while Nigeria was still suffering serious economic problems.
Tinubu’s foreign exchange strategy is ‘hurriedly put together’ and lacks sufficient discussions, according to Atiku
The former vice president revealed this in Abuja yesterday, according to a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications, Phrank Shaibu.
He said that his principal, via Paul Ibe, his Media Adviser (rather than Media Assistant, as Bayo Onanuga incorrectly reported), questioned the Tinubu administration’s choice to give the contract to Gilbert Chagoury’s Hitech without competitive bidding.
He also queried why the Tinubu administration allocated N1.06 trillion for the pilot phase, or 6% of the project, which began in Eko Atlantic and was meant to end at the Lekki Deep Sea Port.
