Karim Benzema, the Real Madrid captain, informed the team that he would be departing. After 14 years, Benzema has made the decision to leave the La Liga giants.
The 35-year-old is now anticipated to sign a lucrative contract to join Al-Ittihad.
“Real Madrid and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to end his brilliant and unforgettable era as a player at our club,” Real Madrid said in a statement. “Madrid wants to show their gratitude and love to someone who is one of our greatest legends.”
This confirmation comes after manager Carlo Ancelotti insisted on Saturday there was “no doubt” about Benzema’s future at Madrid, noting the forward had one more year left on his contract.
