The Rivers State House of Assembly crisis took a fresh turn on Monday, with twenty-seven lawmakers defecting from the state’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
The legislators cited internal PDP divisions as the key cause for their defection to the APC.
The lawmakers are alleged to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The MPs met at a plenary session on Monday at about 8 a.m., where the decision was made.
