The Rivers State Police Command has issued an official order temporarily restricting all human and vehicular movement across the entire state.

This security measure is being implemented in preparation for the local government elections scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 30.

According to the command, the movement restriction will be enforced from midnight, 12:00 a.m., until 6:00 p.m. on election day. The directive is a proactive step aimed at ensuring a secure environment conducive to a peaceful and orderly electoral process.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, elaborated in a formal statement that comprehensive security arrangements have been finalized.

These measures include the substantial deployment of police officers and other security personnel to all critical locations, covering both land and waterways throughout the state.

This widespread deployment is designed to protect voters, electoral officials, and materials, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the elections.

Iringe-Koko appealed to the residents of Rivers State to cooperate fully with the security agencies by adhering to the restriction order. The command emphasised that this cooperation is vital for achieving a smooth, peaceful, and hitch-free election.

Furthermore, the public was encouraged to remain vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious activities or individuals observed in their vicinity to the nearest security post. Rivers police reassured the populace of their commitment to maintaining law and order before, during, and after the conclusion of the voting process.
