Nigerian singer and producer Samklef has come to the defense of his colleague Tiwa Savage after she faced heavy backlash for exposing her backside during a TikTok Live session.
Recently, during a TikTok Live with TikToker Peller and his girlfriend, Jadrolita, Tiwa surprised her viewers by flashing a tattoo on her backside while discussing her body art. After talking about a tattoo on her neck symbolizing a bird, Jadrolita asked if Tiwa had any tattoos on her backside. To the shock of many, Tiwa obliged by showing her tattoo. While Peller reacted with discomfort, his girlfriend expressed excitement.
In response to the criticism, Samklef took to Instagram to defend the singer, stating that Tiwa did nothing wrong and criticized Nigerians for their lack of exposure. He compared the critics to VDM (Virtual Displacement Monitor), questioning if they no longer know where a backside is. He labeled Nigerians as religious fanatics with misplaced priorities.
Samklef wrote,
Tiwa did nothing wrong! Una lack exposure! So una no know where y@nsh Dey again? Una don Dey think like VDM! Una 2 get problem for that country! Religious fanatics, children of Pharisees!”
This isn’t the first time Tiwa Savage has faced controversy. Back in 2021, she made headlines when a sex tape of her and her lover was leaked online. Despite the attempted blackmail, Tiwa refused to be extorted, stating in an interview with Power 105.1 FM that she wouldn’t allow the scandal to ruin her life.
In her song “Loaded,” featuring Asake, Tiwa revisited the scandal, emphasizing that it couldn’t destroy her. However, her lyrics drew further criticism, especially from investigative journalists, who accused her of negatively influencing young girls. Kemi Olunloyo, a vocal critic, reminded Tiwa that she is a mother and advised her to refrain from promoting such messages in her music.
Despite these challenges, Tiwa Savage continues to rise above the controversies. Last year, she shared a cryptic message hinting at overcoming a difficult period in her life, attributing her strength to divine intervention.
