The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Mr. Olayemi Cardoso as the CBN’s governor on Tuesday.
Other candidates who have been confirmed to serve as Olayemi’s deputies include Emem Usoro, Muhammad Abdullahi-Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor, and Bala Bello.
After a lengthy, behind-closed-doors meeting, which was presided over by Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabo after the Senate had returned from its two-month yearly break, their screening got underway.
The majority of the parliamentarians’ inquiries focused on the Naira’s exchange rate with other currencies, particularly the US dollar.
The parliamentarians bemoaned the nation’s economic problems, especially the Naira’s sharp decline.
Elisha Abbo, Adams Oshiomhole, and other senators, voiced their displeasure and encouraged the incoming CBN staff to “look outside the box to see a way of strengthening the Naira.”
