Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate Leader, called on the government on Saturday to diversify into the promotion of arts, culture, and tourism.

He said that such a move would turn the economy around and provide a strong alternative platform to oil and gas.

The senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District issued a letter of congratulations to Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe, Ewi of Ado Ekiti, on the occasion of the 2023 Udiroko Festival, which took place on Sunday (today).

The Udiroko cultural festival, according to Bamidele, is “a symbol of unity and celebration of rich and colourful culture and valuable heritage, which deserves to be accorded national status and recognition.”

According to the Senate Leader:

“Nigeria has a rich and valuable culture and tradition across over the 250 ethnic nationalities that we have, but they remained largely untapped due to poor investment and right economic focus.

“The time has come for the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu to initiate a strong relationship with the 36 states of the federation to fully tap these wasting potentials and this can only be achievable through the right investment and partnership with the private sector.”
