In a recent interview with former skit maker Bae_U, Seun Kuti opened up about some personal and humorous experiences, including his thoughts on not receiving an invite to Davido’s wedding.
Bae_U kicked off the conversation by asking Seun Kuti how he felt about being among the celebrities who weren’t invited to the high-profile wedding. Seun humorously admitted that the snub deeply affected him, joking that he couldn’t sleep for over a week.
Kuti went on to mention that Davido has brought large crowds to Fela’s Shrine on multiple occasions without paying the entry fee, and his guests even enjoyed drinks for free. The lack of a wedding invite, he said, really hit him hard, given the history.
When asked about how he’s preserving his father Fela Kuti’s legacy, Seun shared that he now leads the band once headed by his legendary father, and that they were once nominated for a Grammy—an honor that reflects the band’s enduring relevance.
On a lighter note, Bae_U asked about who inherited Fela Kuti’s famous stage underwear. Seun jokingly explained that he and his brothers inherited them because none of his sisters’ husbands had the “male assets” required to fit into them.
The conversation about wedding invites didn’t end there, as Seun’s name was just one of many left off the list. Other celebrities, like Nkechi Blessing, celebrated being invited, while controversy brewed between activist Very Dark Man and actress Iyabo Ojo. The activist claimed that Ojo only received an invite to the after-party, leading to a heated exchange between the two.
