President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to postpone planned protests against the weak administration in the country, which are scheduled for next month.
The appeal was made by Information Minister Mohammed Idris, who addressed State House reporters following a meeting with the President on Tuesday.
According to Idris, President Tinubu asked the protest organisers to put the event on hold until the President responded to their objections.
The ministry said:
“The issue of the planned protest, Mr President does not see any need for that. He’s asked them to shelve that plan. He’s asked them to await the government’s response to all their pleas.”
The protest against economic hardship, which is gathering support on social media, is slated to take place in all states of the Federation as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, beginning August 1.
