In a surprising turn of events, Nigerian singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, widely known as Skales, took to social media to voice his strong disapproval of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Skales claimed that EFCC officials conducted a “routine check” on his family, targeting his newborn, wife, and her family members.

Expressing his frustration on Twitter, Skales wrote,

So U guys now carry out routine checks @officialEFCC ON FOLKS? Na una staff talk am. for all U made my family go thru this night — my newborn & her mom. I hate U @officialEFCC. U will fail in whatever the works of ur hands do… success will nevA be URS. I’ll always speak against U.”

The artist went on to detail a distressing scenario, alleging that EFCC personnel arrived at his residence with guns, sticks, and hammers. He claimed they forcefully entered his home while he was asleep with his six-month-old daughter, causing him to experience a panic attack.

However, the EFCC promptly responded to Skales’ claims, refuting any involvement in such actions. In a phone conversation with Punch, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale categorically denied the allegations, stating,

Number 1, we don’t invade. Number 2, we don’t conduct any raids. Number 3, there are ways and rules to identify a regular EFCC operative. So, to all intents and purposes, all of his claims, they are totally removed from what an EFCC operation looks like.”

Oyewale also suggested that the incident might involve impersonators falsely claiming to be EFCC operatives.

This development raises questions about the authenticity of Skales’ claims and the need for clarity in the actions of law enforcement agencies. As the controversy unfolds, there is a growing call for a thorough investigation to ascertain the facts surrounding the alleged incident. Skales, on his part, insists on accountability and vows to continue speaking out against what he perceives as wrongful actions.

The unfolding drama between Skales and the EFCC highlights the delicate balance between security measures and individual rights, prompting a broader discussion on the conduct of routine checks and the need for transparency in law enforcement operations.
