President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a N35,000 interim pay reward for all Federal Government employees on Sunday.
The payment will be made to all federal government employees who are paid by the Treasury for a period of six months.
The decision was made following additional deliberations with the Federal Government team, which met with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC on Sunday.
The government also highlighted the outcome of the meeting with the Organised Labour in a statement signed by Mallam Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, in which it called on the Labour unions not to go on strike, insisting that issues in dispute can only be resolved when workers are at work.
According to reports, the NLC and TUC are evaluating the government’s offers with a view to postponing the strike.
