Three members of a notorious kidnapping gang have been arrested in Ogoli-Ugboju, a community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The arrest was confirmed by the Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Hon. Maxwell Ogiri, in a post on his official Facebook page. He revealed that the suspects were part of a five-man gang that has been terrorising Otukpo and neighbouring communities with repeated cases of abductions.

The three suspects—identified as Ibrahim Salleh, Ashimu, and Abuh Umaru—were arrested on Sunday, April 6, 2025, during a well-coordinated operation by security agencies in the area. The operation was said to have followed actionable intelligence and the cooperation of vigilant community members.

According to Hon. Ogiri, the gang has been linked to multiple kidnapping incidents that have caused fear and tension among residents. He commended the security operatives for their swift and professional conduct in capturing the suspects without significant incidents.

He added that investigations are ongoing to track down the remaining two gang members and other possible collaborators within the communities. The council chairman also assured residents that no effort would be spared to restore peace and security across Otukpo and its environs.

Hon. Ogiri further appealed to residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities that could threaten public safety.
