Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas granted amnesty to 17 Correctional Service convicts.

He also commuted the execution sentences of four death row inmates to life imprisonment.

The pardon was made during his Independence Day broadcast in Jalingo, the state capital, last night.

He also reaffirmed that his administration was prepared to mechanise the agricultural sector in order to increase food production and improve food security, transforming the state into an agricultural powerhouse.

He added that his government had finalised measures that would allow all Tarabans, regardless of political parties, to have access to great education. He identified education as the key to unlocking the State’s potential.

He stated that in order to ensure a healthy environment for the State’s citizens, the health sector would also be revitalised and the welfare of health professionals would be improved.

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to funding essential infrastructure development, including the State Airport’s expansion.

According to the Governor, his government is working with the necessary security agencies to apprehend the criminals and kidnappers terrorising the State.
