Nigerian actress, model, and creative powerhouse Temi Otedola is celebrating a significant milestone in her career. Taking to Instagram, the younger sister of DJ Cuppy marked the 10th anniversary of her professional journey.
The multi-talented star reminisced about her journey, which began at 17 when she launched jtofashion.com, juggling university classes and photoshoots. With no clear roadmap but plenty of determination, Temi took every opportunity that came her way, transforming her passion for fashion blogging into a multifaceted career that spans modeling, creative direction, stage and film acting, presenting, and podcasting.
I wish I could hug that girl and tell her all the hard work would pay off!!” she wrote, expressing gratitude for her younger self’s perseverance.
Temi candidly acknowledged the trials and errors of her career, from failed projects and imposter syndrome to rejections and missed opportunities.
Temi admitted that it has often been difficult to be proud of her accomplishments due to the glamorous perception of online media careers. She noted that behind the scenes are countless hours of work—photoshoots, rehearsals, pitches, auditions, and more. This year, however, she decided to celebrate her persistence and resilience.
I’m proud of myself for never giving up on my dreams and staying consistent throughout my 20s,” she wrote. “As a type A introvert, I often found the pace and networking aspect of the industry really difficult, but I’m proud I pushed myself at so many points I could have given up.”
Starting in the Nigerian creative scene in 2014, Temi has grown to represent Nigeria on the international stage. She became the first African influencer to collaborate with several international luxury brands and served as the first African digital ambassador for L’Oréal Paris.
Expressing gratitude to God, her family, team, friends, mentors, and fans, Temi thanked those who have supported her throughout her journey. She also gave a special shoutout to her long-time followers, the “OG fans” of JTO Fashion.
