President Bola Tinubu will swear in three more ministers to his 48-member cabinet today (Monday).
The three new ministers will be sworn in at the State House Council Chamber before the start of the Federal Executive Council meeting, according to a senior official in the Presidency who did not want his name mentioned because he was not authorised to speak on the matter.
The FEC meeting on Monday is the second after Tinubu’s May 29 inauguration as President. It returns after a 48-day absence.
Since its maiden meeting on August 28, the Council has not met. Tinubu had sworn in and inaugurated 45 ministers a week earlier, on August 21.
Jamila Bio, Ayodele Olawande, and Balarabe Lawal from Kaduna State are the three additional ministers to be sworn in.
Bio and Olawande will be sworn in as Ministers of Youth and Ministers of State for Youth, respectively.
Tinubu’s letter prompted the Senate to review and confirm the three new ministers on October 4.
Lawal from Kaduna State succeeds Nasir El-Rufai, a former Kaduna State governor whose ministerial candidature was rejected by the Senate.
“There will be a FEC meeting at 12 pm tomorrow (Monday) and all three of them—Bio, Olawande and Lawal—will take the oath before the meeting starts proper,” according to the source.
