Tolu Arokodare was awarded the Man of the Match honour for his impactful performance in the Super Eagles’ hard-fought 1-0 win against Rwanda in a match played in Uyo on Saturday.

The striker, who entered the game as a substitute for Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka at the start of the second half, proved to be the decisive figure in the encounter.

His defining moment arrived on the hour mark when he expertly converted the winning goal from a chaotic goalmouth scramble, demonstrating sharp instincts and composure under pressure.

This crucial strike marked his second goal in just four appearances for the national team under coach Élic Chelle, underscoring his growing importance to the squad.

Throughout his time on the pitch, Arokodare was a persistent menace to the Rwandan defence.

Utilising his significant physical presence and impressive close control, he consistently disrupted the opposition’s backline and created numerous problems for the defenders. His ability to hold up play and bring others into the game added a new dimension to the Super Eagles’ attack.

With uncertainty surrounding the fitness of star striker Victor Osimhen due to injury, Tolu Arokodare’s timely performance and proven goal-scoring ability position him to potentially play a vital role in the team’s upcoming crucial fixture against South Africa. His emergence offers a promising alternative for the Nigerian attack as the team continues its campaign.
