The ongoing autopsy to determine the cause of death of late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has included a toxicology test being conducted in the United States.

This revelation was made by the Lagos Coroner Court in Ikorodu during the current inquiry into the musician’s untimely demise.

State attorney O. Akinde informed Coroner Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi on Wednesday that the autopsy’s external examination had been completed. However, he clarified that the toxicology test, which involves the internal body, is being conducted in the United States.

The delay in obtaining the toxicology test result was raised by David Fadimu, the counsel to the deceased’s father, during the inquiry. Fadimu sought clarification on the reasons for the delay, prompting the disclosure about the ongoing foreign toxicology examination.

Magistrate Shotobi also questioned the decision to involve a foreign toxicologist, considering the availability of toxicology laboratories in Nigeria. The explanation for choosing a US-based toxicologist was not provided in the available information.

The toxicology test is a crucial component of the autopsy process, aimed at providing insights into potential toxic substances or chemicals in the deceased’s system that may have contributed to the cause of death. As the investigation continues, the results of the toxicology test are anticipated to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing.
