Leny Yoro, the new Manchester United defender, has spoken for the first time since joining the club from Lille.
Yoro has rejected Real Madrid’s offer to seal a £60 million deal to Old Trafford.
United will pay just over £52 million up front and £6.5 million in add-ons.
It was assumed that Madrid was the 18-year-old’s chosen destination, but United pushed hard to persuade the Frenchman to come since he was a priority acquisition.
In a statement on Thursday, Yoro said:
“Signing for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honour.
“Since my first conversations with the club, they set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project, and showed a lot of care for me and my family.”
