The troops of Operation Hadarin Daji in Zamfara State continued clearing operations in bandit strongholds on Friday in an effort to retain recent gains achieved by forces in the North-West.

They destroyed bandit camps in the Zamfara and Sokoto states’ Mutuwa, Guda Tudu, Kawar, Dantayawa, Gidan Kare, Mahuta, and Gyado villages in recent coordinated operations.

During the operations, the forces startled the rampaging bandits by approaching their hideouts with full vigour and agility, according to a senior military source who requested anonymity and spoke to Channels Television. Before the army showed up, they escaped from their enclaves.

Four of the bandits’ working motorbikes were found, nevertheless, and the army immediately demolished their freshly built hideaway.

Also, troops of Operation Hadarin stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Faru in Zamfara State’s Maradun Local Government Area were informed that bandits intended to assault the community of Bagabuzu.

The brave soldiers quickly mobilised, engaged the armed bandits in a gunfight, and prevented them from entering the communities.

Four bandits were killed during the battle, but others managed to flee with gunshot wounds.

One General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), one FN Rifle, and 123 rounds of specialised ammunition were found by the forces as they repelled the onslaught.

Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Sokoto/Commander Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji, praised the soldiers for their fortitude, valour, and ability to continue the assault on the terrorists.
