Nigerian television personality and host, Morayo Afolabi Brown, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding popular crossdresser, Bobrisky, following his win as the Best Dressed Female at a movie premiere.
During the latest episode of Your View, Morayo defended Bobrisky against criticism, asserting that as long as Bobrisky hasn’t broken any laws, Nigerians have no right to judge him.
Morayo emphasized that crossdressing itself is not illegal in Nigeria, and therefore, Bobrisky’s participation and victory in the competition should not be met with backlash. She questioned why people are offended by Bobrisky’s win, especially considering his gender identity and the fact that he has undergone surgical procedures to change his gender.
Morayo’s comments come amidst a wave of reactions from other celebrities, including actress Toyin Abraham, who expressed disbelief at Bobrisky’s win, and singer Portable, who threatened to call the police on Bobrisky. Despite the criticism, Bobrisky has remained unapologetic about his gender identity, recently announcing the acquisition of a vagina and urging Nigerians to address him as a woman.g.
