Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets lost 1-0 to Morocco in their second Group B game at the 2023 U-17 AFCON on Wednesday.
An early strike by Abdel Maali secured Morocco’s second win in the group. This is as Tochukwu Ogboji conceded an own goal in the second minute of the game.
In spite of Nigeria’s loss, a silver lining was the outstanding performance of Yahaya Lawali was named Man of the Match for the second consecutive game following Nigeria’s 1-0 to Morocco on Wednesday.
Yahaya Lawali had a chance to score for the Eaglets in 68 minutes but failed to convert.
The Eaglets continued to press for the equalizer but could not overcome a resolute Moroccan side.
The Golden Eaglets will face South Africa in their last group game on Saturday.
