European football governing body (UEFA) on Friday, upheld a 500,000 euro ($537,000) fine on Spanish champions Barcelona for violating financial control rules – Financial Fair Play.
The Catalan club recorded incorrect gains “on the disposal of intangible assets” in the fiscal year 2022, according to UEFA’s club financial control body (CFCB).
Barcelona was fined by UEFA in July, but they appealed.
The La Liga club has struggled financially in recent years, giving up a significant portion of future broadcast rights money in 2022 and other aspects of the organisation to maintain buying and registering players in the short term.
