The United Kingdom and the United States have congratulated Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Tinubu, on his victory in the 2023 presidential election.

The United Kingdom Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has congratulated Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Tinubu, on his victory in the 2023 presidential election.

Sunak made this known in a tweet on Wednesday night.

He noted that he looks forward to working with Tinubu and establishing a stronger bilateral relationship.

The UK prime minister, in the tweet, said;

“The UK-Nigeria relationship remains strong.

“Congratulations to @officialABAT on his victory in Nigeria,” Mr. Sunak said.

“I look forward to working together to grow our security and trade ties, opening up opportunities for businesses and creating prosperity in both our countries,” he added.

Also, the United States through the State Department spokesman Ned Price on Wednesday congratulated Nigeria on the election of ruling party presidential candidate Bola Tinubu while calling for calm amid accusations of voter fraud and concerns over technical glitches.

“The United States congratulates the people of Nigeria, president-elect Tinubu and all the political leaders,”

“This competitive election represents a new period for Nigerian politics and democracy,” he added.
