The Organised Private Sector, or OPS, has reacted to the Federal Government’s new N70,000 minimum wage.

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu approved a N70,000 minimum pay for Nigerian workers, with the promise of reviewing the national minimum wage legislation every three years.

Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, spokesperson for OPS and Director General of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, responded by warning that members would be unable to pay the N70,000 national minimum wage established by the Federal Government without assistance.

He was quoted as saying:

“While we commend the President for putting to rest the immediate issue of the National Minimum Wage, we also note, most importantly, his commitment to support the sub-nationals and the organised private sector to pay the new wage.”
