Actress and talk show host, Whoopi Goldberg, recently apologized for using an ethnic slur towards the Romani people on an episode of “The View” that aired on March 15th, 2023. During a conversation about former President Donald Trump, Goldberg used a derogatory term that perpetuates negative stereotypes about the Romani community.

After realizing her mistake, Whoopi Goldberg took to social media to offer a sincere apology. She stated that she should have thought more carefully about the words she used before speaking. She acknowledged that using offensive language can cause harm. It can also contribute to the marginalization of certain groups, and expressed deep regret for her actions.

This is not the first time Whoopi Goldberg has faced criticism for her controversial views or use of offensive language. In the past, she made comments about the Holocaust that were widely criticized and led to a suspension from “The View” for two weeks. Although she later apologized for those remarks, she did not face any disciplinary action.

It is important to recognize the impact that language and behaviour can have on marginalized communities. Public figures need to take responsibility for their actions and strive to create a more inclusive and respectful society.
