President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revealed that his administration removed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) to accelerate development and improve infrastructure.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga disclosed this in a statement on Sunday when FCT Minister Nyesom Wike led a delegation from the Abuja community to pay Tinubu a Sallah homage.

Tinubu explained that the TSA system was slowing down infrastructure projects, necessitating a review to ensure greater impact and progress. He credited Wike for spearheading transformative changes in the FCT since the exemption from TSA restrictions.

“I remember the day the FCT Minister came to meet me and said, ‘Please remove us from the problem of the TSA so that I can accomplish more.’ He presented his plans, and everything began changing rapidly. I saw rural areas opening up, abandoned projects being completed, and healthcare and education facilities being upgraded,” Tinubu stated.

The president praised Wike for restructuring the FCT public service, allowing civil servants to rise to higher positions. He urged Nigerians to prioritize leadership based on results rather than ethnic or religious affiliations.

Tinubu emphasized that the reforms have enhanced security, improved healthcare services, and catalyzed infrastructure development in the capital.
