The Nigeria Labour Congress has informed the Labour Party’s presidential candidate that he is free to quit the NLC.
Benson Upah, the NLC’s spokesman, revealed this in an interview with Punch Sunday.
The NLC leadership promised not to rest until Julius Abure was removed as the Labour Party’s national chairperson.
Upah noted that, notwithstanding the ‘illegal’ national convention that restored Abure to power, the union will never recognise or legitimise his leadership.
“Our position on this matter is clear and has not changed. Abure remains unknown to us. It is not a question of removal. As far as we know, he does not exist,” he stated.
